Further enhance your columns with caps and bases, as well as matching stucco trim around windows, doors and wall sections. Stucco columns are made with a light weight styrofoam center, making installation a breeze. Their highly durable coating contains embedded fibreglass mesh (with an alkali coating) along with a high grade adhesive binder, which outperforms competing stucco products made with basic cement. This ensures your columns last long, in addition to looking great.
Exterior columns are designed to wrap around unsightly posts or poles, and are non load bearing. They are provided in halves and have a 6" square center cut, so that they can be easily installed around existing posts or poles. Center core size can be modified. Decorative columns serve to match and enhance residences with any siding and mimic luxurious, expensive concrete columns.
Columns are sometimes known as colonnades, posts or pillars. Our columns come with a hollow center so that they're sort of "sleeves" or "wraps" for existing structural columns and posts.
Columns are not eligible for discounts. Due to the size of the columns, they must be sent by freight (regardless of quantity). Minimum shipping charge is $450
Precast Concrete Columns
Concrete columns (and stone columns) can weigh thousands of pounds, and cost just as much. Dedicated trucks with loading and unloading equipment must be used to move and install precast concrete columns, making them unfeasible for most projects. Specialized equipment must be used to move and install them at the jobsite, increasing the labour required.
Decoramould's polystyrene and polyurethane foam columns look and feel like precast concrete, but weigh a fraction as much (50 pounds vs. 1000+ pounds) because they're 90% lightweight polystyrene (styrofoam) with a concrete exterior. This allows them to be shipped on a skid to anywhere in the U.S., and can be moved and installed by a single person.
Idea: Stucco Columns and Panels
Here is a great use of columns, which at the top turn into panels, with arches between. The columns are all evenly spaced and identical, effectively using repetition as an architectural feature. Instead of simply terminating the columns and having a wall above it, the architect built out the section above the columns and had faux panels built - countinuuing the appearance of having the roof supported by the columns.
Arches were applied to the surface between the columns to give the impression they're all supporting one another. The windows behind the columns use an EIFS molding in conjunction with a stone wall, displaying a contrast between their smooth surface and the rough stone.
Pilasters that look like the panels were used on either sides of the dormers.

In lieu of quoins or pilasters, these home owners decided to use 3/4 columns on the corners of their walls. This creates a nice rounded-effect on the corners, is consistent with the columns in the middle, and makes the home stand out more. The unique-ness of this project makes it stand out in the mind of buyers, helping a home to sell quicker in any market.
